Davè attains QM certification for MBA program's 'global supply chain management' course

Dinesh Davè, director of supply chain management in the Department of Marketing & Supply Chain Management in Appalachian State University’s Walker College of Business, has achieved the Quality Matters (QM) certification for SCM5690 — Global Supply Chain Management. Dr. Davè's course is the sixth MBA course to achieve this certification and the 15th course overall at Appalachian to do so, making the Walker College home to 40 percent of all QM-certified online course offerings at App State.

Global supply chain management is one of the most critical functions in organizations due to the competitive business environment. In order to gain global business opportunities, it is important for a business entity to actively participate in a global supply chain network. This course introduces students to global dimensions of supply chains, logistics and global transportation management, sourcing, facility management, supply chain infrastructure, and the management of global supply chains. A case-based approach pertaining to current topics that reflect the dynamic business environment will be used to reinforce and enrich course content.

Dr. Davè partnered with App State's Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) to attain the certification. CAE offers up to six faculty members the opportunity to participate in the program each year, with a goal to rethink, redesign and apply online pedagogy in the design and development of a high-quality online course.

“Dinesh is a long-time friend and colleague of many of us in CAE, going back to 1999, when we were founded as ICS (Instructional Computing Services). Dinesh was a joy to work with; I always admire his positive and energetic approach to the tasks at hand.” said Greg Simmons, lead CAE consultant for the Walker College of Business.
