BOONE, N.C. — Drs. Tracy Reed, Tammy Kowalczyk, Heather Dixon-Fowler and Ash Morgan have been awarded professorships in Appalachian State University’s Walker College of Business.

Each professorship recognizes a faculty member who has demonstrated outstanding performance in instruction, scholarship and service. The recipients receive a salary stipend to further advance their work, and each individual retains the professorship for two years.

Reed and Kowalczyk are associate professor and professor, respectively, in the college’s Department of Accounting; Dixon-Fowler is assistant professor in the college’s Department of Management; and Morgan is an associate professor in the college’s Department of Economics, as well as the director of the university’s Center for Economic Research and Policy Analysis (CERPA).

“These professorship awardees are outstanding teachers, researchers, and engaged members of our community,” said Walker College of Business Dean Heather Hulburt Norris.

In addition, four Walker College of Business professors have been re-appointed to second terms of professorships they have held since 2016. These are Dr. Scott Hunsinger, professor in the college’s Department of Computer Information Systems and Supply Chain Management; Dr. Peter Groothuis, professor in the Department of Economics; Dr. Dana Clark, professor in the Department of Management and director of the department’s hospitality and tourism management program; and Dr. Pia Albinsson, associate professor in the Department of Marketing.

“Offering professorships allows us to recruit and retain top talent to lead our Appalachian business students in becoming ethical, innovative and engaged business leaders who positively impact our community,” Norris said.

Many of the professorships are named in honor of significant benefactors to the Walker College of Business.

The professorships will take effect July 1.
