Why Marketing?
Marketing is about branding, creativity, media, and thinking globally. Students have the opportunity to participate in projects that develop communication and time management skills. Specific topics examined and taught by the department of marketing include the underlying determinants of buyer behavior, product management, managing promotional activities, elements of sound pricing decisions, product distribution, marketing research, and the corporate social responsibility of marketing decisions.
Marketing, BSBA
A Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) degree with a major in marketing consists of 18 hours in addition to the College of Business core courses required for the BSBA degree. Fifteen hours come from the structured marketing core and three hours from marketing elective courses. To graduate with a major in marketing will require a cumulative 2.0 (C) grade-point average across all marketing courses.
Minor In Marketing
A minor in marketing for non-business majors may be obtained by completing 18 hours of requirements with a minimum overall GPA of 2.0 over the courses used to meet minor requirements.
Engagement Outside the Classroom
The American Marketing Association is the largest marketing association in North America, and Appalahcian's chapter helps members develop business connections and build individual knowledge.

Incoming students may also choose to participate in the Business Residence Learning Community, a living learning experience for all business majors.

Appalachian's Marketing Program has a 90% job placement rate after completing undergraduate studies. Some positions include, but are not limited to:

After Graduation
Graduates enjoy high placement rates from satisfied employers including CBS Sports Radio, E&J Gallo, Ralph Lauren, State Farm, Disney, GEICO, Red Ventures, and Target.
Some undergraduates continue their education at Appalachian by completing the 1-year Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Science in Applied Data Analytics (MSADA) degree.
