Nik Nikolov joined the Walker College of Business in the Fall of 2018. Prior to receiving his doctoral degree in marketing from the University of Georgia, he worked as a financial industry analyst and trader for a hedge fund in the Atlanta area. He was also involved in real estate marketing and entrepreneurial start-ups. Professor Nikolov is an advisor with the foreign direct investment agency of Bulgaria (Invest Bulgaria Agency), and works to promote FDI and advises businesses in that country. He has experience teaching various marketing classes, including introductory courses, international marketing, and international business, among others.
His general research interests are at the intersection of marketing and finance, covering questions such as the implications of managerial short-termism on marketing investments, the valuation of marketing and innovation by financial market participants, the impact of top management characteristics on marketing strategy, small business marketing, international marketing, as well as the increasing importance of CSR in marketing, among others. Dr. Nikolov has published articles in several academic journals including the Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice and the Journal of Family Business Management, among others. He has presented his research at numerous national and international conferences.
Dr. Nikolov sits on several PhD student advisory committees, was a fellow for the Sheth Foundation AMA Doctoral Consortium, and the International Business Fellows advisory group at Washington State University.
